Social Media can increase a site image and reputation to large groups of people. A blog for example gives a way to share ideas and expertise with other people. You learn as much as you share!

Facebook,Myspace is good but when it comes to conversions, twitter is not that much effective until you have 50k plus followers.
But twitter gives very high hit count.
I am saying it from my personal experience - I get almost 900 hits a week from twitter but conversion is only between 1-2.

You can't take the information you know about twitter's visitors and apply it to the rest of social networks. Twitter visitors for example have been shown to have an extremely low conversion rate when reverting to "tacky friend adding software". But that's just twitter and a large portion of twitter users are marketers trying to advertise to you too. Myspace has low results as well cause it's saturated with spam. If you are going to use friend adding bots or mass messaging bots, it's best to use them on a social niche network that will not have saturation, and not be filled with marketers. I get plenty of visitors/pageviews/conversions from using my software and I hardly have to lift a finger.

recently in an article i have read that Facebook has more value than Twitter, because Facebook is drawing more return users than twitter, i was also shocked at that time but when i have seen the data about popularity of Social Networking Sites, then i realize that it's true.

Unfortunately many are still learning about Social Media and how it should be used properly. In fact, I don't believe many companies and/or people know how to measure a successful Social Media campaign. What are the metrics used when measuring a successful campaign? To actually understand SMO, you need to know the answer to this question.
